Theo and Brigitte Breisacher

History

Since its foundation in 1966, Theo Breisacher has turned Alpnach Schränke AG from a small business with six employees into one of the largest and most important employers in the Alpnach region.

Today, the family business is run by Theo's daughter, Brigitte Breisacher, in the second generation. The following timeline shows the milestones from the company's origins to the present day.

Today, Alpnach Schränke AG can proudly claim to have successfully established itself as a leading specialist in the field of storage furniture in Switzerland.

The alpnach norm group comprises three production plants in Switzerland (Alpnach Schränke AG, Alpnach Küchen AG and ZURAG AG), as well as several showrooms with a total of 190 employees. At the parent company in Alpnach Dorf, all cabinet products are manufactured on an area of over 20,000 m².

In 2026, we will be celebrating our 60th company anniversary.

2022/2023

New production machines in Obwalden

With the purchase of a new production machine, Alpnach Schränke AG has invested in the future, thus securing around 190 jobs in the alpnach norm Group.

Name change

Name change from Alpnach Norm-Schrankelemente AG to Alpnach Schränke AG.

2016

Reason to celebrate

Alpnach Norm-Schrankelemente AG celebrates its 50th anniversary.

2008

Succession planning

Brigitte Breisacher becomes owner of Alpnach Norm-Schrankelemente AG and founds alpnach norm-Holding AG. Establishment of the Breisacher Foundation for the promotion of young professionals.

2001

Change of leadership

On the 35th anniversary, Theo Breisacher hands over operational management to his daughter Brigitte Breisacher and Bernhard Wyrsch.

1999

Foundation of Alpnach Küchen AG

Foundation of the sister company Alpnach Küchen AG with headquarters and production site in Strengelbach AG.

Reorganization VR

Bernhard Wyrsch joins the company and the Board of Directors is reorganized (Theo Breisacher, Brigitte Breisacher and Bernhard Wyrsch).

New branch in French-speaking Switzerland

Chavannes-près-Renens is the first branch to open in French-speaking Switzerland.

Start in the family business

Daughter Brigitte Breisacher joins the company at the age of 19.

1973

Extension of the third warehouse building

Production volume: 60,000 cabinet doors per year. Theo Breisacher invents the Oni Komet door hinge, which allows cabinet doors to open 180° and is completely maintenance-free.

1966 / 1967

Foundation of Möbelfabrik Alpnach AG by Theo Breisacher

Theo Breisacher is inspired by large orders to create certain standards. He designs an add-on system for the cabinets in 8 widths, 2 heights, 3 depths and in 2 colors. An absolute novelty for Switzerland.

1954

The beginning

On May 17, 1954, Theo Breisacher leaves his home country for Switzerland with a Deutsche Bundesbahn ticket and 100 DM in his pocket.
